To see my son dancing gives my life a deeper meaning and adds beautiful colours to the universe of music. To live is to touch and be touched.
One of the greatest things about being a musician is to see how people are touched and moved. But this goes both ways; I am formed in my meeting with you.
Welcome to my site.

Welcome to my site.
As a performer, composer and producer, I always search for ways to find the pulse, sound and melodic lines that connect me with my environment.
I live on Skjernøy, the southernmost inhabited island in Norway, and this is also where I have my studio. Skjernøy is a part of Mandal, a small, beautiful and unique town. Living and working on this island with beautiful people, its proximity to the sea, its light, sounds, and even its unique smells has a significant impact on me and my music.
I grew up as the son of a photographer, and early on became fascinated by the relationship between the audible and the visual.

Improvisation, for me, is as much about creating a unique sound design in the moment as it is about focusing on melody and virtuosity.

Throughout the years, I have developed a passion for playing many kinds of alternative and rare instruments. Part of my aesthetic style and approach is about combining and placing sounds on the border between the real and the unreal – the acoustic and the electronic, and finding the blend of organic and electronic soundscapes.

I started playing the piano when I was five years old. I am blessed with musical parents and was lucky to have musicians there for me, living right next door: the Myrseth and Sæverud families. One of my first musical loves was the music of J.S. Bach.

The Roland SH09 was my very first synth, and I bought it from the Myrseth family. In my now large collection of analogue synths, the SH monosynth is still one of my favourites.

I am fascinated by the human voice as an instrument. We are created and shaped in each other’s presence, perhaps as much in the sound and tone that the other gives us as in the meaning of the words. Sometimes in natural form – sometimes manipulated with vocoders/harmonizers.
I have been collecting and experimenting with vocoders since the early 90s.

I experiment with a broad range of electronic materials, from large synth systems to rare, battery-powered electronic audio devices.
My latest solo project is the first part of ”We meet, We touch, I am.” We are shaped by our meetings. The collaborations with artists, singers, musicians, dancers and filmmakers worldwide, from different cultures, have formed me in so many ways, not least my work with joik and Sami music for more than 25 years.

This site gives an insight into my musical world and how elements in my life are connected.
My musical heart is where the organic meets the electronic, where improvisations meet classical art, where you don’t define a genre, where you don’t count but love the beat, where you feel, combing cultures.
Please enjoy
